A pattern for building personal knowledge bases using LLMs.

This is an idea file, it is designed to be copy pasted to your own LLM Agent (e.g. OpenAI Codex, Claude Code, OpenCode / Pi, or etc.). Its goal is to communicate the high level idea, but your agent will build out the specifics in collaboration with you.

The core idea

Most people's experience with LLMs and documents looks like RAG: you upload a collection of files, the LLM retrieves relevant chunks at query time, and generates an answer. This works, but the LLM is rediscovering knowledge from scratch on every question. There's no accumulation. Ask a subtle question that requires synthesizing five documents, and the LLM has to find and piece together the relevant fragments every time. Nothing is built up. NotebookLM, ChatGPT file uploads, and most RAG systems work this way.

C# LSP in Claude Code

The roslyn-language-server is a .NET tool that provides rich language features for C# through the Language Server Protocol. It powers editor integrations including the C# extension for Visual Studio Code and C# Dev Kit. It offers several operations that Claude can use to navigate C# code rather than using grep and friends.

The Roslyn LSP supports many operations defined by the language service protocol, but from what I read only these commands are supported by Claude as of v2.1.62.

  • goToDefinition: find where a symbol is defined.
  • findReferences: find all references to a symbol.
  • hover: get documentation and type info for a symbol.
  • documentSymbol: list all symbols in a document.
  • workspaceSymbol: search for symbols by name across the entire workspaced.

Setting a minimum release age (a "cooldown") on dependencies is a cheap, high-leverage defense against supply-chain attacks. Most malicious package versions are detected and yanked within hours, so a 24-hour delay filters out the smash-and-grab incidents (axios 1.14.1, ua-parser-js, Solana web3.js, etc.).

All three major Node.js package managers now support this, but each one used a different name and a different unit. Here is what you need.

I had trouble getting my i7-8700 65W to work in my m720q with a 65W PSU. It was working fine in Windows, but was throttling down first to 20 Watt, then to 15, 10, and finally to 7 Watt, which resulted in a maximum clock speed of 800 MHz.

The main problem seems to be a mix of crappy firmware settings from Lenovo/Intel (Reddit Post) and the weak power supply.

To fix this problem, we have to install some tools, and for them to work, you have to make sure that secure boot is OFF; otherwise, the kernel doesn't allow you to set the CPU power limits. The easiest way is to install in legacy mode; therefore, you need to disable secure boot and enable CSM in the BIOS, select legacy boot preferred.
